In 1977 she started her journey on the west coast of Australia in Alice Springs, accompanied by four camels and their mongrel dog Diggity. During the 195-day journey, she experienced setbacks and loneliness, but also found access to her inner self. She processed her experiences in the 1980 book Tracks.
